DC Trip Day 4 2025

Day 4: We Like It Well-Hung

Today was all the National Gallery. We didn’t even get to half of it yesterday so this turned out to be our only event for the day.

As far as we could tell, we managed almost all the gallery over the two days. At about 4:00, it was a very fast walk to the East Wing, then to the Tower where the 20th Century art was. To be honest, Picasso was the motivation. I can now say I’ve seen multiple Picasso paintings.

Actually, with the exception of Frank Frazetta and Bob Ross, I think we saw all The Greats.

Many thanks to Mr. Hottell, my high school humanities teacher and Knowledge Bowl coach for giving me just a light sprinkling of knowledge over a wide range of topics. An understanding a mile wide and 2 mm deep.

As with yesterday, it was just cool seeing all the paintings that shaped history for me.

The paintings that ended up on the $1 and $2 bills? Saw them. Japanese Foot Bridge. A poster in Tina’s office. Jackson Pollock’s “Painting Number 1”? Never saw it and that’s fine by me.

So, it was an okay day. And on the ride home, Wendi pointed out yet another Kinko’s She been pointing them out to me ever since we got here. Though I didn’t pay great attention to what she was saying, I did wonder about the plethora of copier services in the downtown area.

That, and Wendi’s constant need to point them out.

Turns out she was pointing out Ginkgo trees.  Makes a bit more sense.

On that note.

Bye!

The God coming through the clouds is very reminiscent of Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Justin Timberlake is The Anointed One?

Seriously. It’s like, “Oh, crap! Who dropped Our Lord and Savior into the dirt?”

Our Lord and Savior Mandrake.

Once I noticed my first “Pooping Pup”, I saw them everywhere.
